Overview

Passed in 2016, the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the most significant legislative change in European data protection laws since the EU Data Protection Directive (Directive 95/46/EC), introduced in 1995. The GDPR, which becomes enforceable on May 25, 2018, seeks to strengthen the security and protection of personal data in the EU and serve as a single piece of legislation for all of the EU. It will replace the EU Data Protection Directive and all the local laws relating to it.

We support the GDPR and will ensure all Salespanel services comply with its provisions. Not only is the GDPR an important step in protecting the fundamental right of privacy for European citizens, it also raises the bar for data protection, security, and compliance in the industry.

Salespanel as a lead tracking service acts as both a data processor and a data controller under the GDPR.

Salespanel as a data processor:

When customers use our products and services to process EU personal data, we act as a data processor. For example, we will be a processor of EU personal data and information that gets uploaded into a Salespanel account. This means we will, in addition to complying with our customer's instructions, need to comply with the new legal obligations that apply directly to processors under the GDPR. You can track emails sent from Outlook suit using Salespanel’s Outlook add-in. If you are not familiar with the concept of Outlook add-ins, here is a technical overview of it: Outlook add-ins

In this article, we will show you how you can Install(https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/add-ins/sideload-outlook-add-ins-for-testing) Salespanel's add-in into your Outlook setup.

Once you have Salespanel's add-in installed you will be able to track an email and the email recipient will be automatically added to your Salespanel account. Once the recepient opens an email, the activity will be logged. You can also add links to your domain in the email. If your lead clicks on these links, website activities will also be tracked and logged.

You will also get real-time email open and website visit alerts if you install the Salespanel browser extension.

Let's go through the installation steps.

Installation

A one-time installation needs to be completed to activate email tracking for Outlook.

Log in to your Outlook account from your browser.
Create a new message and click the 3-dot icon at the bottom half of your message creation screen.
Click on Get Add-Ins and on the pop-up, add a custom add-in by visiting **My add-ins > + Add a custom add-in > Add from URL. **

We expect our customers to be compliant with the European Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). We are providing a checklist which should be established in order for you to remain GDPR compliant with your end users. At Salespanel we take data protection and privacy very seriously and we highly recommend going through this compliance.

Salespanel tracks your visitors and helps you convert your leads into customers. While tracking your leads:

You must obtain a valid consent to write and read cookies in their devices. Consent must be informed in a clear manner and the user should be able to explicitly express their consent.
You must inform the visitors about the cookies your website is using.

How to install Salespanel tracking code in Wordpress

Once you install the Salespanel tracking code, leads will start appearing on your dashboard. If your website is made in Wordpress, please follow these instructions.

We recommend using "Header and Footer Scripts" plugin in Wordpress.

Go to "Add New Plugin" section.
Search for Header and Footer Scripts in Wordpress' 'Add New Plugin' section. We recommend installing the one offered by Digital Liberation.
Once installed, from the sidebar on the WP Admin Panel, select: Settings > Header and Footer Scripts.
Copy the Salespanel tracking code from your Salespanel account paste it in Header.

| If you are using any caching plugin for example WP super cache, don't forget to clear your WordPress website's cache. Cache usually expires in few hours but if you immediately want to see your Salespanel tracking code live, you should clear the website's cache.

How can I track visitors from Google Ads with Salespanel?

If you run PPC campaigns, it is important to track leads coming from them to measure quality and segment leads.

You can track visitors from Google Ads by adding ValueTrack parameters on your Google Ads.

The ValueTrack template is a string that gets attached to your link. The template starts with {lpurl} and is followed by the parameters you want to track (eg: {lpurl}?device={device} ).

With these parameters enabled, Salespanel will know which campaign, ad group or ad copy the visitor saw and what they searched for before finding your website. You can also segment visitors captured on Salespanel based on these parameters. For example, you can create a separate feed for users who searched for “business loan” from UK.

The most commonly used parameters are:

{campaignid} = Identify the campaign from where a visitor came from {adgroupid} = Identify the ad group {creative} = Identify the specific ad your visitor saw {keyword} = The keyword which visitor searched for to see this ad.

To track campaign id, adgroup id, ad id and keyword, you will need to use this parameter: {lpurl}?utmcampaign={campaignid}&adgroupid={adgroupid}&utmcontent={creative}&utm_term={keyword}

Can I add team members on my account?

Yes. You can add team members on your Salespanel account.

Team members can look at all leads or at only leads assigned to them.
Owner account can assign leads to team members.
Once assigned the team member will receive activity alerts from that lead.
Email tracking is separate for every team member.

To add your team member, go to the Team section.

You will be prompted to invite a team member. Enter their email and click Invite.
Your team member will get an invite through email. The team member needs to follow the link in the email and complete the signup.
You can choose if you want to provide access to all contacts or to only assigned contacts.

Assign leads.

To assign any visiting company or any identified lead, please go to the detail profile page and use "Assign" button. You can also use quick view for a faster access to the "Assign" button.
